Description

Vietnamese lemongrass chicken is a delicious and popular dish that originates from Vietnam. It is made by marinating chicken in a mixture of lemongrass, garlic, and other flavorful spices before grilling or frying.

One of the key ingredients in this dish is lemongrass, which gives the chicken its distinctive citrus flavor. Lemongrass is a tropical plant that is native to Southeast Asia and has a number of health benefits. In addition to adding flavor to the dish, lemongrass has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • 500g (1 pound) chicken breasts or thighs
  • 3 stalks of lemongrass

Step 5:While the chicken is cooking, make the dipping sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and vinegar. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Notes

  • Be sure to use fresh lemongrass for the best flavor. Look for stalks that are firm and green, with no brown or wilted leaves. To prepare the lemongrass, remove the tough outer leaves and finely chop the tender white part.
  • If you can’t find fresh lemongrass, you can also use lemongrass paste or lemongrass powder. Just be sure to follow the package instructions for the correct amount to use.
  • Make sure to marinate the chicken for at least an hour, or even overnight for maximum flavor. The longer you marinate the chicken, the more flavorful it will be.
  • When grilling or frying the chicken, be sure to cook it until it is fully cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches at least 165°F.
